Working on a jpeg slide show and I can’t seem to figure out a fade to black. I’m pretty sure Vegas 7 is capable of this but does anyone know how it’s accomplished? I know the magic bullet suite can do this but that’s a big expense for a fade to black.

I’ve got transitions between the jpegs but at the last one there’s nothing to transition to, also at the beginning same problem. Was thinking of just using a black shot – dslr w/ lens cap on – jpeg but I’d think there’s a better solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Place your cursor at the top left if it’s the first image or the top right if it’s the last image.
You’ll see the cursor change to a 1/4 circle.
Drag this forwards or backwards to give you a fade to or from black.
The more you drag it, the longer the fade will be.

That’s the ticket. Thanks so much.

i actually figured this out right now — not sure why i’m here anymore. this is how it goes…
on the top left there is a panel having lots of tabs bellow it. click on transitions and choose dissolve from the menu you see. The thumbnails actually show how the transition looks like if you click on them. choose Fade Through Black and drag and drop it at the end of the clip you like to fade. notice that when the mouse is at the end of the clip there comes a plus sign. drop and let go. you see a dialogue box which helps you modify further. to increase duration of fade zoom in and extend it.
