I am new to Sony Vegas Movie Studio and I am currently experimenting on the trial version, 9.0.
I will probably post questions from time to time, but my current question is, is there a way to create a fade that lasts during several still images? I know it sounds strange, but if I’m doing stop motion, a fade over several still frames can be a key effect. I’m guessing this probably isn’t possible, but I just thought I’d ask.

If what you mean is a fade from image 1 to image to to image 3, etc. Vegas does this automatically as long as the “Automatically overlap multiple selected media when added” option is selected in Options – Preferences – Editing.

Try right clicking in the track header and add Opacity envelope. doulble click the blue line at the top of the video event before you want the fade to begin to add a point then again where you want it completely faded out then drag the second point to the bottom of the video event. Hope this is what your looking to do. Danny Hays

Since you’re working with stop motion (and, I imagine, dozens, hundreds, or thousands of images), you may want to use the Project > Import Media option which lets you import a sequence of images. You can then treat a whole slew of images as a single event. Then all you have to do is add a fade just like any other event (or even add a transition). It’ll also make most other editing operations easier.

To make this work, your image names will need to end in numbers (title01.png, title02.pmg, title03.png, etc). Go to Project > Import Media and choose the first image in the sequence. Then check the box at the bottom that says “Open Still Image Sequence.” The Range box (to the right) will have the last number Vegas finds, but you can change this if you want this particular event to finish at an earlier image. Then hit Open.
