Fade in FCP

How are you exportin from FCP? How are you encoding the mv2 and what’s the data rate? And, how are you making the DVD? The more information you give us, the easier it will be to help.

After editing I export in movie DV / dcvpro – NTSC, Current frame rate, Best quality, Interlaced, 4:3, Native compressor, Letterbox. Burn the DVD in iDVD com the best quality. I do not know about the tag mv2. The quality of the video is normal (or acceptable), But the black, Pricipalmente and the fades are very bad.

iDVD is a toy. You should use DVD Studio Pro and read up on using Compressor to create your mpeg file. Letting iDVD make the mpeg from your DV quicktime is not going to look smooth.

As Michael says, use Compressor and DVD Studio Pro. And when exporting from FCP be sure to select DVD Studio Pro markers or Compression Markers. FCP automatically creates a marker every time there’s a cut or transition. Compressor uses these to make a much better encode.

To do the export I use quicktime movie, And not using quicktime conversion, Sure?
I leave the option make movie self-contained set, Sure?
Option and recompress all frames, Should also be marked?

Yes. Use Export Quicktime movie.

Yes.

No. Do NOT recompress. This will lead to loss of quality.

I did all tests, And writing in DVD Studio Pro or iDVD the fades are bad in the same way. I think the problem must be in as I do the editing fades in. I do 3-ways: Using a cross fade to nothing, Or using the opacity of the clip, Or using the opacity of a matte black color. The problem may be in the video as I mixo, Use the quick time conversion, DV / DVCPRO – NTSC, Current frame rate, Best quality, Interlaced, 4:3. Any other suggestions?
