    I’m having a lot of difficulty doing getting instances of a cloner object to fade in randomly.
    I’ve read several posts trying to explain this, but I still can’t get it to work.

    The best way I can think to do it is to borrow the method from the GSG card flip tutorial; that is, control visibility with a noise in the shader effector (influencing a mograph color shader in the cloner material’s alpha channel). Then animate the noise shader’s high/low clip values accomplish the fade.
