Facial animations / body animations
Hi there,
As much as I learn about FCPX and Motion 5, one thing still stumps me — a very specific, weird-looking animation that I see in a lot of Tim and Eric stuff (I know, I know).

It would be great to know how these are done and be able to recreate them myself without having to invest in any type of plugins. I’ve searched high and low and cannot find any info on these techniques, anywhere! I know for a fact these were created using FCP and not some other high-end editing software.
Any help is much appreciated!

There’s is absolutely ZERO chance they were created in FCP actually. The first two will most likely have been done with After Effects Puppet Tool. A mesh warp filter that neither FCP nor Motion can deliver. Nor do I know of a 3rd party plugin that would even vaguely give them that functionality.
The third one would be comparatively simple in either FCP or Motion. Whereby it would be silly to want to do that amount and kind of animation in an NLE, whether it’s theoretically possible or not.

Look into the products such as Crazy Talk 7 (animator) from https://www.reallusion.com. They could probably do, what you are looking for.

The third example you mention is actually a plugin. It works in FCPX, but you’d have to buy the plugin.

The first mentioned seems to be an Ae or Ps Liquify effect, and the second as has been mentioned looks like a puppet effect in AE and perhaps a bit of liquify.
