The F8 Button in combination with another number button is supposed to set the audio destination 2(F6=Video and F7=Audio1). The others work, but F8 does not seem to respond. I have FCP 6.
What can be the reason? Also Shift+F7 (reset audio destination) is not responding.

Laptop or tower? Check your keyboard layout inside FCP.

In addition to what Steve recommended (Hi Steve)

Also check your OS settings (System Preferences). You may have that key assigned to an OS function (Spotlight, Expose, etc) which will trump FCP functions.

Thanx Michael. That was it. Even though The dashboard was switched off, the F8 button was assigned to it. Once I unchecked that, the button was unlocked within FCP. Great one!
