Extruded nurb does something weird to my illustrator text

I only see for movies and pictures is it allowed to upload to a site like megaupload and then to hyperlink it in a message that would be easier. The file is relatively small

The file upload button is the last one on the right… so if you see the picture button, then there is a video button, then the file button. It looks like an old school floppy disk.

But yeah, you can upload the file anywhere and link to it in the message.

I don’t mean to be harsh, but that Illustrator file is just a mess. You have way too many paths, overlapping paths and there is indeed extra junk around some of the letters. I’m really surprised C4D even gave you that good of results with the Extrude. I wish I could help more, but I don’t have the time to clean all this up for you. Essentially, all you really need is the red outline and the outer most path that defines the letter shapes. But then ideally you would need to combine those paths to cut out wherever you want the empty space in the letters.

I have no doubt that if you clean up these paths and give C4D proper splines to work from, you will get the results you are looking for..

No, it’s no offense take, I followed a tutorial to the “T”, made slight adjustments. During the tutorial I wondered why the made it with so many paths. It seemed to me like the whole process could have been easily done in photoshop. Anyhow I deleted almost all unnecessary paths which turned into splines into Cinema 4d, so it was only like under 1- paths. thats how I was able to get a cleaner 3d, for the most part it came out decent, other than the l c and y. So yeah I deleted those unneccesary paths in cinema 4d, however it still created those chunks. How do you suggest going about cleaning this up. Keep in mind im new to illustrator, so talk to me like a 7 year old, lol. Thanks again guys.

I had similar issues… almost every font I tried had artifacts after I applied Fillet Caps in C4D. Also, artifacts got worse when I checked the Constrain box in Caps options.

After tweaking for hours I found a fix…

SOLUTION: add / subtract anchor points in Illustrator

After you convert your text to outlines in Illustrator, use the Anchor Point Tool to add and/or subtract anchor points.
