I also forgot to mention,

Sound is 48,000khz 16 bit stereo. The prpject settings is DV PAL 48khz, also tried in a Blackmagic DV project as well.

For a test I exported a DV NTSC.mov file from QT Pro…2 minutes, 427 MB. Pro does bog way down during conforming audio which took about 1 minute, but then it played fine on the timeline (P4 2.8 HT). Qt player plays the file fine.
Check the properties of your file in QT…mine shows Apple DV as the format.

Yes my file is Apple DV PAL Quicktime as well 720×576 48khz 16 Bit Stereo. I am thinking could be a software conflict somewhere withthe AMD system and drivers?

Try updating QT player or uninstall it and reinstall.

Hello Mike,

I tried both earlier, un-install, re-install, update to latest version. It’s very un-usual. If I import an AVI and the file conforms in seconds but Quicktime does not seem to even conform.

Hello Aanarav,

I have checked and it’s just the core Microsoft processes in the background. I have my system with the following;

Windows XP PRO + SP2
Graphics card drivers
Motherboard drivers
Windows Media Player 11
Quicktime player 7.1.3
Adobe Production Studio Premium with latest updates.

So I am un-sure what could cause this system lag with Quicktime files into Adobe Premeire Pro 2.0? I can only think a software cinflict when Adobe Premeire Pro 2.0 is running then fetchs to import the Quicktime file then conform.

Hello Aanarav,

I output a 14sec clip to Quicktime 56.6mb in total Quicktime DV PAL 720×576 16 Bit Stereo 48,000khz Audio.

To import this into Adobe Premeire Pro 2.0 and conform took over 1 and a half minutes.

So I think for the longer Quicktimes I were importing about thr 4 min mark that is probaly why I did not really see much happening on the application.

When you import Quicktime NTSC DV, do you have a similar lag on the conform? As if I import an AVI based file the conform talkes about 3 secs it is very fast.

Hello,

I put together a Intel Pentium 4 3ghz with 1gb of ram with an Asus motherboard P4R800VM, ATI Radeon x700 256mb AGP card into a system on a single IDE drive for boot/system storage on Windows XP PRO with SP2.

I installed Adobe Video collection 1.5, I still get the Quicktime taking a lomg time to conform to the project if I import the Quicktime file into a project in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, however my stsem does not lag or my mouse cursor?

So could it be a problem with the AMD system somewhere?
