Extremely long rendering times
I am new to final cut pro and I am trying to make a music video with an audio track and 5 camera angles. Each angle is about 12gb is size and every time i try to make any edit (especially working with the overlays) it says I need to render and it estimates 22 hours or more. I already rendered each angle, which took 5 days.
I need to be able to see what I’m doing in the canvas to align the video angles with the audio and to go from angle to angle in overlays for a 9 minute video. I can’t wait 22 hours every time I make a single edit. I tried adjusting the render settings to as low as possible but that didn’t work, any other ideas?

Sounds to me like your trying to edit with h264 files. from a 5d perhaps?
1st rule of Edit Club: always transcode your footage to something better. Like ProRes.

I believe Log and Transfer can now convert h264 into ProRes. Haven’t used it though.
You could use Compressor to batch convert everything. Or even exporting from the QT player 1 at a time.

There is a plugin for Canon and Log and transfer for FCP:
Or use Compressor or MPEG Streamclip.
