Extreme zooms?
This has surfaced on this forum, but I don’t feel like anybody answered it.
Like in the CSI/Cold Case shows:
I’m curious how they perform those extreme zoom “ins” and “outs” into moving footage? I saw a Cold Case trailer and the shot went from a freeze frame shot of a cop (in tight panning across his face) then pulled to a full body shot of him, and then the frame became unfrozen and the cop was running through the street. How are the still image, and the moving shot, able to lineup so perfectly?
I’m assuming its not a still frame from the hi-def footage because I don’t think there are enough pixels in high def to zoom in that tight and stay that clear. Are they grabbing raw stills with a digital camera while they are also shooting film?
Any help appreciated.
