extreme timestretch
Hi!
I have an interesting problem here, maybe one without a possible solution, but thought I’d ask here…
I’ve bought a short clip from a photo/video stock site:https://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup/object/3596696_fly_into_galaxy.php?id=3596696
It’s 20 seconds long, but in fact I’d need it to play 8,5 minutes! long, to match a song, an mp3 tune played along with it. I know that short clips like that just doesn’t meant to be stretched in such an extreme way, but still, is there any way I could achieve this effect?
I already asked about it on another forum, and I was instructed to use Frame Blending. Actually, it had some nice results overall, but in the parts where the inner, light side of a galaxy changes to a black, starry background again, it’s quite the mess…here’s an example of what I’m speaking about:https://www.sendspace.com/file/fp2yae
So my question is, is there any workaround or special trick that could do it for me? or should I just forget the whole thing? 🙁

no. You’re pretty much screwed there.
You could, however, let the transition happen in realtime, and slow down everything before and everything after that transition.

You could try downloading the Twixtor demo. Then slow down the clip to 50%, precomp it, slow it down to 50% again, and so on .. you’d have to do that 4-5 times to get it to eight minutes. You might have to render it each time — I don’t know if your system could handle the precomping.
If you like it, buy Twixtor.
I suggest the stepped 50% approach to give Twixtor something to work with, since going from :20 to 8:00 would be too much.
