I used to be able to monitor HDV in realtime through my Extreme card via component out on my SD broadcast monitor at eith 8-bit or 10-bit resolution. That no longer works, it only updates when I hit stop on FCP. And, I just got in a film project on DVCPro100 that I’d also like to be able to display to my SD monitor, but I’m encountering the same problems. Anyone have an idea???

    Most likely a setup issue.

Best way is to use the easy setups we provide (Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup). Then verify that in View > Video Playback matches your easy setup.

The same thing applies to playing your DVCPRO HD clip. Select the matching easy setups, then create a new sequence and drop your clips into it. You have to create a new sequence as easy setups do not affect existing ones.

Wow Kristian, that was fast… I got it to work, but only with a strange View > Video Playback that strangely does not seem to match my setup. Tomorrow a.m. when I get back into the edit bay I’ll post the one that works and maybe you can tell me why. I can’t remember exactly the one, but its ceratinly not the logical choice.

    David,

I had the same thing. Only the only way i could get playback was to uninstall BM and reinstall. Ver. 5.6.

Let me know if you get a “reliable” setup. For me, the same setup (not there now) that did not work, did work after i reinstalled the BM drivers. Someone posted about the latest ProApps update from Apple crashing BM. I have not been able to confirm this.

    Regards,

    Peter
