  Extraneous sound

  I recently took a wedding video with guests making personalised messages. However it is difficult to hear them with the background singing from a duo hired for the occasion. I have tried to remove the background with audition but am having no luck. I believe Audition is for hisses and other extraneous sounds and not for fairl loud background music.
  Has anyone got some suggestions how I may resolve this?
  I was using Canon HF G30.
