I for some reason can think of how to do this the right way.

I would like to mark a in and out point to a section of segments (all the tracks) then extract that potion, rippling all my edits to fill that gap. Then I would like to move to a new time position in the timeline and splice in the segments I just extracted, rippling those tracks as well. I know how to do this with using the smart tools but I would like to know how only using the keyboard.

    OS X: Cmmand-X then Command-V
PC – Control instead of Command

So this seems to only work if you timeline setting is defaulted to insert edit instead of overwrite. I like having my default be overwrite but I guess this is the price of admission to do what I want.

    Thanks

Try alt-x to extract to source monitor, then move to position and command- v to insert source material ( with appropriate patching)

Source remains so can place at multiple locations.
