    Hi All,

I have used AE7 for about 8 months now and have always avoided expressions. Mainly coz they scare the crap outta me!

But, I have decided to try to `deal` with them and see if I can try to understand what all the number/words mean in expressions.

    My question is…

What or where are the simplest, idiot proof, made for dummies expression tutorials/meaning and explanations?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

The AE expression language is JavaScript packaged with extra pre-written classes and objects (these are what you see if you click on the drop-down menu next to the expressions field).

If you really want to understand what’s going on, then your best bet would be to familiarize yourself with JavaScript’s syntax and structure through a more general tutorial. After that look at more specific AE related tutorials as it does have its own little quirks.

http://www.motionscript.com is a great resource for AE specific code and is maintained by this forum’s own Dan Ebberts.

You can try https://www.w3schools.com/js/ for general JavaScript information, keeping in mind that AE is different than most web applications in that it re-evaluates the expression on every frame.
