    Hi all,

We’ve just recently upgraded to FCP 5 and are now experiencing something that is more of an annoyance than anything else, and wondering if anyone could help perhaps.
On footage we’ve captured and then drop onto the timeline there will be something like a total of 10 or 12 audio channels when we only ever used to have 2 with FCP 4.5 and the Betacam SX deck we’ve got only supports 4 to my knowledge. The superfluous channels are blank with nothing in them and must be deleted off the clip in the timeline or require a render before playback – just a bit of an annoying thing to have to do with every clip.

    We’re running:
    G5, OSX 10.4.5
    FCP 5.0.4
    Quicktime 7.0.4
Decklink Blackmagic (SD) Pro with v5.4.2 drivers
SDI link from blackmagic to DNW-A100P Betacam SX deck

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

    -Matt Gleeson.

The capture tool lets you choose which channels to capture – from none to 12.

Look in the ‘clip setting’ tab.
