externally recorded audio loosing sync with video audio
I recorded a 3 hour concert with two cameras and 8 microphones. I used the four audio channels that the two cameras provide plus a zoom 4 channel digital recorder. All were set to 48,000 and 16 bit.
I layed out the video in the timeline, it was one continuous recording shot in 23.976 p
I layed out the 4 channels from the zoom device, and synchronized them with the video’s audio at the beginning of the timeline.
The music sounded strange toward the end, and I realized, the zoom audio was out of sync by 6 frames by the end of the 3 hours. That is one quarter note and very hearable.
I tried to sync at the end, then the beginning was out of sync.
I suspect the problem has to do with the dropped frame format of the video recording.
Is there a way to stretch or squeeze one of either the video-audio or the zoom audio track so they stay in sycn?

A 6 frame difference over 3 hr. is testament to the stability of the Zoom recorder, even though it wasn’t externally synced to your camera.
However, that doesn’t help you so here’s a trick to try.Go to the very end of your timeline and zoom in on it.
If you see a difference in length between your camera audio and your Zoom audio, place your cursor at the end of the Zoom audio, hold down the Ctrl key and drag it so that the two match up.
If they are the same length, step forward 6 frames, drop a marker and do the Ctrl-drag thing to the marker. -
If that doesn’t work, perhaps split the video and manually sync or use Pluraleyes? I’ve had to be creative with SD footage that was also recorded at 44 onto decks hooked up off the board, and looked at editing and stretching it at moments when their was a non lip sync situation. Everyone agreed it ended up being ‘voodoo magic’. The opening intro is in the old footage off the camera, the rest of it was recorded off the board onto a SoundDevices professonal deck.Alf

1. I tried the control drag, but it seemed like it moved it rather than drag stretch it. I began to question whether the control drag would work for audio. You make it sound like it should.
I will repeat with the marker like you talked about so I can see if I can be more precise in the test.
2. What I have been doing is the second suggestion, syncing it up after every single number, this is not something I want to repeat.
