    Hi,
I have a Gateway Laptop, the specs are below. It’s a low end general purpose laptop with no upgrades.

Any recommendations on an external video card?
Do they even make external video cards that use USB3? — I would want something I could bring forward if I bought a new laptop.
Are there any brands, psuedo cards, or devices I should avoid?

PURPOSE: The purpose for the card would be to use it with Vegas, and to support plugins (live BlueFxTitler) which demand a better video card to work.

It’s an Intel Core i5, 2.4GHz with 4GB of RAM. There is an Intel Graphics card (maybe I should say cardette). It has 1760MB memory and 128 MB dedicated video memory, System video Memory of zero and Shared System Memory of 1632 MB.

    Thanks
    Alex

You’re not going to find that kind of adapter. The only adapters that support USB are for extending to a second display but they do not accelerate graphics in any way so they are not a “better video card”. If you want a better video card you need to buy a laptop that has a better video card or get a desktop where you can add any graphics card you want.

You are not gonna find that as you are expecting Alex.
As John said, best you get a laptop with the graphics card
built in or a desktop where you can drop in what you want.

Unfortunately John is right. I do have one such USB to HDMI adapter which I use on my laptop when giving demonstrations, but only for that purpose. I have also used it at work on my work PC when I temporarily needed a third screen to go with my dual screen setup. The USB video card will not improve your editing experience.
