External Record with Panasonic AG-HPX300P
Hello,
I am looking to record to both, a P2 card and an external hardrive through a lap top computer. I have connected the camera to the laptop through the firewire port and my computer is having trouble recognizing it. I also changed the record mode to dvc50 as I have read that is the only option to record directly to a HD. Do I need some kind of software running to record? Or what steps do I need to make this work. I also tried the options in the camera menu called 1394 control but still having no luck. Thank you for any help!

Check you cam settings for sending a signal out the FW port.
The Comp can record a signal from the camera. You want machine control on the comp set to OFF.
Make sure all settings match on the comp to what the camera is setup to be recording.Chris Tompkins
