    Thanks,
Will that work with a Mac Book Pro? Can I install it myself?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

If your laptop has THUNDERBOLT, then you simply connect a Thunderbolt cable to that box, and then the box to your HDTV. You will need to install the drivers for it. Those are found on the decklink.com site.

    Hi Shane,
You describe it as a box and it looks like a plug in board. Is this something that is external or internal?
    Thanks so much!

Click on the link again. Nothing on that link is a board…they are all external boxes. The one I mention, the cheapest…Mini Monitor…is a small box. Size of a deck of cards.

The Mini Monitor Shane suggests is a great affordable output device for monitoring. I do a lot of cutting while on the road and use one to tap into hotel TV sets or my SmallHD monitor that I travel with.

One thing to keep in mind when using one of these output devices with FCPX is to set your viewer to “Better Quality” instead of “Better Performance” as you will not be able to see any fields/interlacing issues and such even on the external monitor. (When set to better performance FCPX only outputs at a lower resolution, even to the external display which can mask issues.)
