  • External Network Video Disk Array / NAS setup? / backups

    Hi!

I work in a pc environment in 3d/compostion/video editing and I have two workstations in my network and two other office computers.

I have a basic internal disk array 5 with four disks in one of the workstations.

I’m looking for a external video disk array that I can access with both of my workstations.
While one workstation is rendering some project, I can still use the same unit and work in another project.

Looking to the synology diskstation ds414+.
Installing 4 HD 6 tB each giving me 18 TB of shared data in disk array 5.
    Does this make any logic?

    https://www.synology.com/en-global/products/DS414

    Backups
Buy a second synology diskstation ds414+. that will be only attached to the primary disk array, making a exact copy of the primary disk array.
It would be something like a disk array 10, but using two independent disk units

In the event of a HD disk failure, I could just disconnect the defective disk array and keep working with the other disk array.

    Any other ideas/solutions?

    thanks

    pedro
