External monitor not showing in up in playback settings when using HDMI
I have a HP Elitebook laptop and I tried to use my TV and my monitor for playback over HDMI. The monitors show up and I can set them up in Windows, but in the Premiere playback setting options my external device choices are none and DV.
I remember using this with another monitor hooked up with VGA. Is there just some little catch I’m missing?

Hi Tero,
If I remember well, HP has a weird way of routing its HDMI output that Premiere my not detect. At least it was the case with the DV 9000 series. If your monitor is set as extended (important), also make sure you restart Premiere after you set up the monitor.
Otherwise, it’s likely an HP issue (like many others, sorry personal grudge 🙂

It didn’t work even with the VGA port. Then I fired up my older laptop with Premiere CS4 and the monitor was in the device list immediately.

So it is setup as extended correct? As an alternative, you can always drag your program monitor window to the other display to get a pseudo full screen.

Yes it’s extended and it works in Windows as it should be on HDMI and VGA. Yeah I could drag my program monitor over but that’s a crappy work around.

So… I have the Quadro 2000M card which is pretty cool, BUT it isn’t officially supported in Premiere CS5 but it is in 5.5 and later. I used the CUDA text hack with it and it worked nicely EXCEPT FOR THIS LITTLE MONITORING PROBLEM RIGHT HERE! So undo the text hack if you have monitoring needs and an unsupported GPU.
