Hi – I need to purchase additional storage for video projects. I did buy a western digital mybook pro triple interface drive and it died within the first hour. I have spent countless hours searching the web for reviews and advice, trying to find some consensus on a reliable and relativel affordable external storage solution. I definitely want FW800. I have read of lots of problems with the WD MyBook line, but every other drive I check out has tons of comments warning of disaster. Does anyone have some good recomendations for a storage solution?

    thank you!

You might also look into the drive offerings from Granite Digital.

If you are a do-it-your-selfer, Wiebtech cases along with Hitachi drives is a great combination.

    good luck,

I just bought two of these enclosures from Other World Computing:

Along with 4 of these hard drives:

I’m using two drives per enclosure in a mirror (RAID 1) configuration for redundancy. The enclosures seem well constructed and installation was pretty easy. Considering I got 2 TB of storage and 2 enclosures for about $800 with next-day shipping, I think it is a pretty good deal. 🙂

Plus, OWC is always a pleasure to order from – very simple and quick to respond to any questions that arise.
