    Hi everyone,

I have a comp that has 500 unique shapes, each with the same expression on the position layer.

There are a lot of nuances to play around with in the expression, and changing the variables (while looking for the right set of values) is becoming quite time consuming for each object.

Is there a way to load a single external .txt or .jsx file into the position value of the objects, and then update the script from outside AE–say, in a text editor? So each time I re-ran the script, the objects were taking information from that external file, and I didn’t have to change the values on each individual layer?

    Thanks!
    Chris

Since you don’t provide much detail its difficult to imagine what you want to accomplish.

Are you able to add expression sliders to a control layer and modify the expression to take values from the slider?

Are the layer’s positions set relative to one another? If so use the layer index in the expression. something like this: (thisComp.layer(index-1).position + sliderValue)

You may want to provide more detail and post this to the Expressions forum.
