External drives keep scanning… HELP!
Hi,
My Avid (4.5) keep scanning/indexing the drives everytime i start up. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. Don’t understand this. These are three extrenal drives 2 1TB drives and a 500MB drive from Maxtor. They are all tied together via firewire. I’ve also installed the drivers for the Maxtor drives as well.
I had a complete meltdown on my computer and to reinstall WXP. Every thing seems to be working but this. This is REALLY frustrating, since it takes a long time to scan a TB. This shouldn’t be happening. Any suggestions?

Trash the media database(s) on all drives and then let Avid rebuild them. Eliminate any ‘creating’ files. If Avid continues to scan after this, then you have corrupt files. Sorting by size usually fishes these out. Good luck – paul
