Ok, I’m editing a film and I’ve just come across an issue for external displaying. When I select any external display (digital cinema desktop preview or firewire), I get a signal fine, but when I hit play on my timeline, the image on the external display stays frozen. When I hit stop, the image changes to wherever I stopped…..all along I can hear my timeline fine.
Here are the specs on the system I’m running: Mac Pro dual 2.0 GHz, 4GB ram, single NVIDIA GeForce 7300 card, and I’m editing on an external Seagate via firewire. My project is in 720p HD and my timeline is 24fps. I’m connected to my external monitor via firewire through my Panasonic HVX.
At first I thought this was a 24fps issue……but now I’m not so sure. I’m thinking it’s processing issues. Can anyone tell me what’s going on and how I can get my video to play properly on an external monitor?
    Thanks in advance.

You will need to get an HD card or MXO box in order to preview your video. What you are experiencing is normal.

Is that because it is HD footage and it needs to be downconverted?
