Hey! I’m am hard-core in a disaster. . . I have to print to tape some files from FCP and the program won’t recognize my GL-2 as an external device for print to video (which it has several times before). The only thing different this time is that I upgraded to Tiger and FCP 5.1 in the middle of this edit. I know there are some Quicktime issues when you do this, but I deleted the receipts and all the other tricks I could find. It recognizes the camera in the capture now window (and in the system profiler) and the camera recognizes the DV in, but it won’t print to tape or edit to video. Help, please! This is due in a few hours!

If you would read the entire post, you would have seen that I have already done that. Any other ideas?

Yep, quit and go home early. If you have read the entire post I said follow it to the letter.

Maybe you should learn to run a proper system. Don’t upgrade; clean installs only, and for Hop’s sake never do it in mid project when a deadline is due.

    Feel better?

Obviously, I have followed the advice to the letter. . . I am just as capable as you at searching Apple for their help pages. If you can’t offer any advice that isn’t easy to find with a simple search on Google, why are you responding to these posts?

And I am well aware that upgrading in the middle of an edit is not the smartest thing to do, but when you are fixing someone else’s screw ups and they happen to have an FCP version higher than yours, you have to do what you have to do.

Maybe you could work on being a little less of a douche bag.

    Thanks.

Hey George, I’d like to personally welcome you to this forum. it is an endless source if valuable information. It seems that we have started off on the wrong foot. For this I apologize. I see you post infrequently, and this question that you have asked is extremely common so I thought I’d give you a common answer because many people who have your same predicament fix their issue by following the aforementioned document. There is a little known feature that is not driven by google that might help you in your search for fixing your dilemma. It is located on the top left of your screen at the third link underneath the top cow. It’s marked “search posts”.

There is also a great article written by a frequent cow user that might be of service to you as well in order to get the most out of your hard earned information that you seek here. You can read up on it here:

    https://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/page_wrapper.cgi?forumid=105&page=https://www.creativecow.net/articles/battistella_david/good_grazing/index.html

Now that we have the niceties out of the way, perhaps you can give us a little more information on our system such as what else is connected to it, how it’s connected, and what kind of cards, devices, monitors, keyboards, digital clocks, usb aquariums, led lights, and other oddities are attached to your precious money maker.

Ok. So, I’m certain that there should have been another way to do this, but I followed all of the previous posts and threads to the letter and couldn’t get things working. Finally, I just deleted all things Quicktime (not just the receipts), and reinstalled it. This eventually worked. So, there you go.

And P.S. though I may not have posted a lot on here, I am not a stranger to Creative Cow. I have found a lot of help that I needed by browsing these threads. However, on this last particular occasion, none of the answers or solutions posted were helpful for my situation. I guess that you, Jeremy G., not being a mindreader, had no way of knowing that, so I apologize for my douche-bagginess. I tend to lose all sense of common decency after 3 a.m. Sorry.
