I’m going to get a FCP system sooner or later, been saving for way too long. I kept waiting for more power. We’re there now. But now I desire a BluRay burning able drive built in to the tower, and made by Apple.

I know BluRay is not a favored medium from Jobs. But do you think that there will ever be a BluRay burner and program that Apple can use?

I’ve heard of Toaster, but the way it’s been explained to me . . it does not seem like a true HD video on a BluRay disk from how it was explained to me.

    Thanks for any insight,
    Vinnie

    Well…

Sounds like someone has told you the wrong information.

There are lots of use here that have been using internal Blu-Ray drives on our Mac Pro systems using Roxio’s Toast. It works just fine. Some here are using Adobe Encore (CS4 is the preferred app), others are different more costlier programs.

Its all up to you on what your needs are.

We’ve had one of their internal BluRay burners in a Mac Pro going on 20 months now. We have used Encore for Play Only BluRay discs and NetBlender’s DoStudio for fully functional BluRay discs.

A generic blu-ray burner with a USB2 (not eSATA) external enclosure I have works with Toast. Mine’s an LG burner with an Addonics enclosure. I only needed to make play-only discs for screenings at theaters.

We have used this external Blu-ray burner with great success. Compressor to make m2v file, Adobe Encore to make Blu-ray folder, Toast to burn disc.
    works like a charm.
Also, we find we can archive our FCP projects to data BD’s.
