I’m going to be purchasing a new mac book soon. I also want to get an external blu-ray burner to burn all of my hd footage for wedding clients who want them that way.

any suggestions on the most affordable, yet reliable blu-ray external burner?

    thanks!

Pioneer or LG. You should be able to find the burner for around $100. Add an enclosure for $50-80.

OWC or Videoguys is a good place to buy from.

I was just looking for one. I’ve found a few. Not a big selection. Best Buy has one online for $200. Most will be around $200 if you buy them ready to go. Or build your own and save a few bucks.

A couple of years ago I bought an external Blu-ray burner from Buffalo Technology. Even though there was no mention in the specs that it was Mac compatible, it’s worked perfectly with Adobe Encore (Mac version).

I’ve also used it for DVD-R with DVDSP, and burn results have been excellent.

I got an external LG Blu-ray burner at Best Buy for $129. Hard to find. They sell out almost as soon as they come in and the stores don’t get many at a time. I had a store associate tell me when they would come in and only one Best Buy in the entire DFW metro was getting them. I was at the store the day the truck arrived and waited two hours to get one. Initially had issues with it until I realized it needed an immediate firmware upgrade. After the upgrade, it’s worked flawlessly.
