Hi all, looking for some help please, I’m working with interviews with sound recorded separately on a lavalier / sound recorder. I’ve unlinked the guide camera audio, deleted that track and then synced the lavalier audio and linked the two tracks.

When I select the linked tracks and add a marker, the markers added to video and audio are not alined, despite the audio and video being in sync. And original files are very close in terms of timecode and start / end / duration. Seems very haphazard – at times no marker added to audio, other instances on timeline the markers are absolutely miles apart.

Is this a bug? Or user error? Is there a way around this?

    Thanks in advance

    Dave

If you put the clips and audio in the timeline and link them when you click on the clip to add a marker it should add to both.

It concerns me you unlinked camera audio. Now you have no absolute sync for reference. If it were me, I would use Multicam to synch audio, using the external recorder as your main track. The camera audio will still be connected in case you need it.

Thanks for the reply Bret. I can add the original back as a reference. I’m just finding that the timings are out on the audio markers for some reason. Eg I add a marker 47f, marker appears at f47 on video but f27 on the audio. And the markers are not always added to the audio, even when I apply them to linked video and audio. So it’s a bit inconsistent. I’ll double check it’s not a track selection thing, but any other suggestion would be most welcome! Thanks
