I’m looking for (or least be able to define) a shortcut that extends the outpoint and/or in point to the current time line indicator.

I don’t know if I have just missed in the shortcut documentation or if it does not exist?

I don’t think you can do this, you can only trim (not extend) in/out points to CTI, and you’ve got to map these functions yourself via Keyboard customization.

This workflow is not a shortcut based system. You can use the CTI as a snapping point and Ripple out the clip to the CTI and when it snaps let go of the mouse.
While using the Select/Move Tool (V) hold down the Ctrl (PC) or Apple (mac) button and the tool becomes the Ripple Tool – once you let go of the keyboard button you have the Select/Move Tool again.

Yes, I consider CTRL rippling one of the greatest Premiere workflow features.
