  • EXR files interpretation mismatch between AE and Nuke

    Hallo everyone.

Funny things keep on popping up, in the middle of Mediterranean: Nuke doesn’t read an EXR image sequence rendered by After in the correct way.
Specifically, images in Nuke (regardless of the read node settings) look greener and more contrasted than their AE sisters. Of course, on the very same monitor.
We tested different bitdepths and compressions, as well. The histograms look like matching, an evidence that it is a question of visualization.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Does anyone know how to overcome it?

    Thanks.

What’s your color management pipeline look like?

    Hallo Walter, thanks for replying.

Video was shot on an RED Mystery X, then converted to DPX (at least, this is what I’ve been told, coz I didn’t attend the shooting). In AE, we work at 16bit (in Nuke, of course, that doesn’t really matter), and we tested exporting both from a 16 and a 32 bit projects (although I don’t really know what is worth), to no avail.
But the files look correct, if reimported in AE.

I played all my cards (which I admit they are not plenty, by the way).
