    Hello!

I’m breaking my head trying to make a spring with multiple shape layers or illustrators layers. The top layer of the spring must act like a controller and moving it down the rest of layer must act like a real spring. Horizontal lines should be kept horizontal and diagonal lines must rotate and keep the anchor point relative to neighboring horizontal lines. The lower horizontal layer does not have to move.

Someone out there would think how to solve it. In fact it is with expressions but it made a mess in my brain that I can not solve.

    Thank you.

here’s an image from the spring

This was a interesting question, so here is what I came up with. The Spring is drawn using the “Beam” effect so I am not sure you will have the control or look you are trying to accomplish, but see attached project. You can control most all of it from the “_SPRING GLOBALS” layer.

Hmmm, just checked, best I could do is save as CC12; as AE will only let you save down a single version.
