Is there a way to reference an object in a parent composition without referring to the parent composition by name? I would like to have some control objects that control objects within a composition without me having to re-reference the parent comp name for every shot.

    Any thoughts.

    Thanks.

Since a comp can appear in any number of “parent” comps, there’s no way for an expression to get there, except by name. In some cases you can work around it with a clever naming scheme where the expression can figure out the name of the parent comp based on something it does have access to (possibly the name of the comp containing the expression). I’m not sure if that method would help in your case though.
