Expressions are being disabled when I open the file due to a slider’s name changing
I can change the name of the slider back to what the expression is trying to reference just by clicking on it, but I’d like to not have to do that every time I open the file. Any ideas on what I need to change to either lock the name of the slider (it’s part of an effect, not an expression controls slider), or alter the expression code so it doesn’t get confused? Screenshots attached, descriptions below:
1. Expressions as they are when everything’s correct.
Screenshot 12. Sample of several similar warnings that appear when I save and reopen the file.
Screenshot 23. Expressions as they appear after dismissing the warnings upon reopening.
Screenshot 34. One of the problem sliders.
Screenshot 45. When I click on the name “Contextual Slider” it reverts back to “Edge Radius,” the original name as it was when I first applied the effect and pickwhipped my values. After doing this I can re-enable the expression that references it.
Screenshot 56. This is how the resulting comp looks when expressions are enabled.
Screenshot 67. Resulting comp when expressions break.
Screenshot 7To summarize what the expressions are doing in case it’s not clear, I have a series of Generate Circle effects on solids, each with a Radial Transition effect (shouldn’t be affecting the expressions, but I mention it in case there’s something going on that I might not know about). The Circle Controls null has two Slider Control effects. Expressions basically take these values and daisy-chain down the line of Generate Circles to control the thickness of each ring and the starting radius of the outside ring.
