  • Expression to find the exact opposite position in a spherical map

I’m using a plug in called Full Globe, special to properly distort After Effects layers for spherical projections, it’s a very specialized plug in and it’s only used for museum exhibits and things like that, which is precisely what I’m working in right now.

I need to project some top and have Europe and Africa in front and whatever is in the back to be updated automatically as I revise the position of my front view.

Right now I’m modifying two parameters: Globe Tilt to -36.1 degrees and Meridian direction to -3.5 degrees, that puts Europe almost in front of me, slightly to the right. As I move that position is there an expression I can use to link those parameters to another copy of the same layer but see instead what’s directly opposite of Europe? It would be something like this same value divided by two (since this works on a 360 degree basis) but I need to compensate since I’m actually using arbitrary values and not 360 fixed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A screenshot of the plugin parameters would help.

    Meridian(back) should be Meridian(front) + 180.

For the Globe tilt, may be Tilt(back) = – Tilt(front)

(only trying to guess, hopefully it hit…)

I ended up using the first one you mention, (+180).

    Thanks!
