  • Expression to change source text on one layer to match another

Posted by Chris Huggett on July 12, 2005 at 8:54 am

    Hi there

I have two text layers. Each say the same thing and each are directly ontop of each other. The top layers text changes quite often and i want the layer below to change with it using an expression

I have set an expression for the bottom layers source text parameter and pickwhipped it to the above layers source text parameter, but the text then offset itself and didnt directly match up.

Any idea on what i can do?

    Thanks

    Chris

Just pickwhip the position parameter in addition to the source text. They are treated separately by AE.

    Hi Mylenium

On my top layer, i have adjusted kerning and adjusted the baseline of some characters. THis is not reflected in the layer below. Do you have any idea how to copy this?

    Thanks
    Chris

Nope, you can’t. If use this adjustments, you have to copy & paste everything to the other layer. Some parameters can be adjusted with multiple layers selected, though, so give that a shot.
