So I have these two comps with a text element scripted in an expression to source from a layer (“Text 01 native” in the same comp then the output will be set to another comp (“_Mograph”).

When I switch to the “_Mograph” comp, the text is mysteriously sourced from a different layer “Text 01”

But the original expression has no errors. Why is it being ignored?

I also want to know what

I’ve found with Essential Graphics that text expressions don’t run for some reason. But a work around is to have a hidden text layer, which you use in the EG panel. Then for your visible text layer, you set its source text to be populated via the hidden one and that will allow expressions to run.
