    Hi folks –
Is there a way to make the layer marker text show up in the comp window. I am assembling 110+ short cartoon shots and I want to be able to watch the video and see what shots need fixing. We have them numbered and marked off on the audio layer, and I can always duplicate the audio layer and swap it out for a solid if that helps, but I want to put the scene numbers up on the screen so that I know exactly what shot number needs fixing.

    Thanks.

    Aharon

    Aharon,

Apparently it you could do it older versions, but newer versions have a bug that prevents access.

    well doesn’t that just suck.

I haven’t updated to the latest AE 7 update yet, have you? maybe it’s fixed?

Anyway, how would you do it, if it did work? Is it comlicated?

    Thanks anyway!

No, it’s broken in AE 7. I think it was supposed to be like this, but I haven’t tried it (with AE 5.5 presumably):

    marker.key(index).value

Dan, where do I eventually apply this expression? Which solid’s parameter?

    Thanks.

Well, I’d guess you’d apply it to the source text of a text layer.

what if your markers are on a different layer. How would you tell it that?

But in this case the only expression:

    index

work fine in source text of AE 7.

    to Aharon

in that case the expression is:

    thisComp.layer(“Solid N”).index

where “Solid N” is the name of your targer solid.

Thanks, but That’s telling me what layer number it is. I’m looking for the expression to tell me what text is on the layer markers.

    It would be like this:

    thisComp.layer(“Other Layer”).marker.key(1).value
