  • Expression for camera pos to link to other comp

I hope this is an easy one.

Basically, I need the camera position in Comp 2, to mimic the camera position in Comp 1.

I want to use an expression and not cut and paste keyframes from comp 1 cam, to comp 2 cam.

    Thanks.

Just pickwhip all the camera transforms from Camera 1 to Camera 2. Or is there something you’re not telling us?

In a nutshell…I have camera A in comp 1, and camera B in comp 2. I go to comp 2 camera’s position and alt-click the stopwatch to pull up the expression window and pickwhip.

Here’s where I get lost. How do I pickwhip to another comp? I’ve only done it before if items are in the same comp.

    Hopefully that made sense.

Dan, not sure if my response posted so here it is again.

    Here’s my basic setup…

Camera A in Comp 1, and Camera B in Comp 2. I need Cam B to have same x,y,z pos as Cam A.

I go to Comp 2, Cam B, and alt-click stopwatch to pull up expression window. I hold pickwhip but cannot link to Comp A. I’ve only pickwhipped in the same comp before.

I’m hoping this is easy and I’m just not seeing it.

    Thanks

On the Timeline panel, click on the little tab that displays the name of your composition, then drag the cursor down slightly. The area that displays your switches/current time will turn blue. Release the mouse button; you’ll now see your two comps stacked one above the other…

You’ll most likely want to link the cameras’ POIs as well as their positions…

    Thank you, Danny!

    Embarrassingly easy fix 🙂
