Expression: fall apart
Hi there,
I am using after effects to build a prison out of cigarettes. At the end of the video the prison “bars” simply fall apart and I was hoping someone could suggest an expression that would get the job done.
Ideally the cigarettes would topple as though they were actually standing end to end atop one another.

If you’re looking for a realistic physics simulation you would be best served doing it in a 3d app. Cinema 4d would be able to create the prison and destroy it really, really easily.
I can’t think of any way (other than hand animating it with a clever use of parenting and splitting layers) to do it the way I’m picturing it from your description.If you don’t have a 3d artist at your disposal, why not film it with actual cigarettes on a chroma screen, then comp in text or other elements as needed?
