    Hi,

we’re currently in session running FCP 4.5 on a g5 with an xserve and AJA IO. We are trying to export a 6 minute sequence with livetype, 8 audio channels and motion graphics into a quicktime movie via sorenson 3 codec (it’s all rendered). Looking for 720 x 480 size, best quality, 29.97 fps, keyframe every 300. Twice it as stopped and just given “General error”. We’re losing time and the client is being patient. We are currenly trying to do it via basic sorenson and it’s proceeding, albeit much slower. Any thoughts on what might be happening? we’d really like to get sorenson 3 to work.

Try exporting a QT reference movie from FCP, then open it in QuickTime and export from there. If you still have a problem, try making it a self-contained movie file and try again. The good news is that you can still use FCP that way while waiting to see if it worked in QT. Good luck.
