  • Exporting XML with Timecode and Subtitle info

Posted by Pierre Robichaud on August 26, 2009 at 10:57 pm

    Hi All,
We’re trying to provide a client’s translation service with an XML file so that they can do localization of our source movie. We have done an English transcription over the English movie using FCP text tool.
They have provided a file that shows what the XML should look like and what we’ve been able to export. I’m stumped. Any help would be appreciated. We’re on FCP 6.0.6

You may have a look at my TitleExchange Tool which would allow to export all titles from FCP to several kinds of text based formats for translations.
It would also allow to get back several kind of formats back into FCP.

If you know a bit about XML and TC it’s also ‘easy’ to feed a FCP XML with the XML values in the second screen shot you provided.

    Hope that helps

I will say that we use TITLE EXCHANGE here, and it works great.

    Andreas,
Unfortunately XML is new to me and I do not know how to “feed” the TC and subtitle info. Can you elaborate?
    thanks,

    Pierre,

Make a search on ‘https://www.w3schools.com’ this will give you an easy intro.

But as said you can try TitleExchange. It’s free for 30 days with a limited number of titles and takes off the burdon to learn everything.

    Andreas
We are currently working on a fix for this using TitleExchange. Little bit of a learning curve.
    thanks
