    Hello all,

I am working off an ’08 iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM in FCP 7.0.3.
    I am editing and exporting a 30 minute show in XDCAM HD422 1080i60 (50 Mb/s).
    I’m exporting with XDCAM HD422 1080i60 (50 Mb/s) setting.

Currently I am sending the show straight from FCP to Compressor adding the compression setting and submitting the export. It’s taking roughly 3 hours per show to export and Activity monitor is showing less than 50% of my processors are being used.

I read other threads that recommended exporting a QT reference file from FCP and taking that into Compressor and using a virtual cluster. But a reference files take as long to export out of FCP as a self contained movie due to the Long GOP format of XDCAM (or so I read).

I am just trying to speed up the exporting process as much as possible. So please help, I am open to any and all suggestions that will decrease my export time.

    Thanks,
    SDP

I would not recommend exporting through Final Cut to Compressor via share. I have had more problems than not.

In almost all instances the reference approach has given me the faster encode with the cluster approach.

What are you converting the XDCam to in Compressor?
