exporting WMV out of synch
Hello,
We often export our final edits as WMV for our clients using PC’s. We are all Mac based. We export a full quality file then convert using various programs. I’ve tried compressor, cleaner, episode, mpeg streamclip using various settings. (one pass, two pass, various bitrates, 44.1 and 48 KHz) We have Flip for Mac Studio, Studio Pro and Studio Pro HD on different computers.
The uncompressed export and MP4 exports synch is fine.
Different programs put the audio out of synch to varying degrees, but all are out of synch. We were hoping it was a display issue with a mac but our client says it’s out of synch on her end as well.
Any solutions, tests, workarounds, would be greatly appreciated.

Post what the sequence settings are and what the source material’s properties are. Whole situation tells a lot more sometimes.

Are your clients on the PCs seeing it out of sync? I find flip4mac to less than reliable on playback. It will be out of sync on a mac, but when giving to people to watch on a PC, or run through parallels on my laptop, it’s ok.

I know you are Mac based but TMPG on the PC side is another option.

Source Material was shot on a Canon 7D, so H.264 23.98 1080P.
Audio was shot with a Zoom H4N.
I was thinking it was a 44.1 – 48KHz issue but the uncompressed file from FCP is perfectly in synch.

Sorry what is TMPG?
The client is seeing it out of synch.
Ideally there would be a solution not requiring the client to download or fix something.

TMPG is an application for PCs that is very similar to Episode or Cleaner.
Have you tried testing another project to see if all exports go out of sync when converted to wmv or just this particular project?
