  • Exporting without this color Issue?

Posted by Matt Kipis on August 13, 2024 at 9:12 am

Hi I do my speed ramping in AE then export using media Encoder to PP but whatever export settings i try my video quality always suffers with respect to its color profile. I attached an image with an example. It looks like each color tone is broken and not blended property. It may have something to do with the color bit depth. What export settings can fix this?

I tried using dynamic link but its extremely slow even with my fast PC.

I film with an FX3 in 10bit slog3 4k. The original footage looks great it only degrades after exporting from AE.

what colour management are you using?

what export settings are you using?

best to export as exr (piz), i think, even better to use a ‘correct’ ACES workflow for log

Apologies, I think I jumped the gun.

Can you tell me what format you’re export from ae/me ?

Exr is an image file, so you export exr sequences, they have the ability to hold lots of data.

Colour management is how aftereffects reads in the colour data of the input file, put extremely simply.

ACES is a version of colour management , it is very good at it, but can be complex

I mentioned these as I’ve had issues with getting log back out from after effects unchanged too.

But the best place to start is how are you exporting them, to what file type?

I have tried to export to ProRes, h265 and h264. My question is their any settings i can change that will fix the color? im open to trying different export video types.

I haven’t been doing any color management. i left it all default

ok, pro res should be fine, make sure youre working in 32bit and export with PR4444 or PR4444XQ,

    see if that helps?

Sadly its also dependent on your target.

It might still look like this after you are done and ready for delivery.

Since you didn’t mention that, I am assuming just straight to web.
