Exporting video without encoding.. possible?
I’m trying to find the most efficient workflow for removing the adverts from video clips (mostly films) recorded from my Humax hard disk recorder in .ts format.
Currently I’m demuxing the .ts files into .m2v and .mp2 files, importing these into Premiere Pro CS3, then cutting out the unneeded video. However I’ve come to a bit of a brick wall when it comes to exporting.
I’d like to export the video without re-encoding it. I know that the video footage exists, un-encoded, on my hard drive and Premiere is able to play it in the right order (I.E. without the adverts etc.) but how can I export this as an individual video file?
One option is to export as an uncompressed .avi and then take it from there, but that process takes a few hours and results in a massive file that is ultimately just a stepping stone to getting it back to the original format.
Even a way of collating the rendered files that Premiere produces would be useful.
Does anyone know of a solution to this? Or if not, can anyone recommend a better/simpler editing program that might help?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The Main Concept Mpeg Pro HD plug-in for Premiere CS3 has a feature called “smart render” were it will not recompress unaltered mpeg content…about $500.
VideoRedo Plus can also do chop edits and export unrecompressed footage..less than $100

I’m amazed that such a simple feature isn’t included in Premiere as standard.
