  • Exporting Vegas AVCHD to FCP settings

I have a Sony SR11 and its a great camera. However, the AVCHD has caused many issues and I am trying to collaborate on a project with a Mac user that has FCP 6.2+
He is unable to log and transfer my AVCHD files without choking his Mac and so I said I’d convert the format to an HD format that he could use with Vegas Pro 8. What are the best settings that would preserve the HD quality and frame size resolution as some of our uncompressed files we have tried appear squashed when he imports them and converts them to ProRes.
Even though I am setting setting the size to 1440×1080, HDV 1080 it still isn’t appearing properly and all my clips are letterboxed when mixed with his own Canon HD m2t files.

I’d be grateful for any help here.

use Cineform to convert which is aditable in FCP. Go to cineform.com and find the right software.

Are there any existing settings in Vegas I can export the clips as that don’t require the purchase of additional software I can use?

    Thanks.

May try (in Vegas) rendering it to quick time .mov.
Go to File->Render as->mov->custom->video-> select best setting such as HD 1920×1080
