exporting to windows media file, FCP crashes
I’m trying to export a 4 second clip as a Windows media file using Quicktime conversion. It crashed. Discovered I had the freebie Flip4Mac so upgraded to Studio Pro version. Thought that would do the trick but when I try to export it, FCP still crashes. I am using OS 10.4.11, FCP 4.5, Quicktime 7.5 on a G5. Do I need Quicktime Pro? Thanks for any help.

The freebie will export up to 30 seconds. “Crash” is impossible to understand from where I sit but it’s likely something wrong with your media, not the encoding process.

You already have QT Pro. The Final Cut Studio is based on QTPro.
You have not said what the original file is or what your sequence settings are. Those may not make any difference but it’s helpful to know in debugging a failed export.

I don’t have FC Studio so don’t have QT Pro. I had FCP 4.5 before the package was created and don’t need Motion, etc so have never bother to buy it. That’s why I was wondering if QT Pro would make any difference to solving my problem. My original file is NTSC 4:3 standard def.
