Exporting to Encore…twice!
Hi, I recently edited a film, exported to Encore and then backed up…. or I thought I had backed up. I accidentally replaced the Premiere file I was working from with the original un-edited premiere file so I am now back to square one with the edit, basically a full day wasted.
I have the fully edited MPEG2-DVD file but if I want to make changes I’ll have to make a full day of it again!
What issues would I encounter if I imported the m2v and wav file to make minor edits to in Premiere Pro and exported again? Would this seriously diminish the quality?

Once you went to M2v – you’ve applied heavy compression.
Anyway to get the original back?Chris

I looked at a system restore but the last index point is too early. It’s not a massive deal, just a waste of a day which leaves me a tad bitter.
Can I export the m2v file with minimal compression?

Hi Rob,
It’s not clear, which file did you overwrite?
If it was the Premiere project, auto-save is usually on by default and there should have been 5 previous versions available on the drive.
As for re-editing the DVD, you can copy the .vob files from the DVD to your hard drive, and Import those into Premiere for editing, no need to “rip” the files first. As for how it will look, take 5 minutes and do a short sample and see for yourself, as only you can determine if it meets your standards.
